American midfielder Danny Williams will miss the rest of the Premier League season after breaking a bone in a leg during training with Huddersfield.

The club said Thursday that the 29-year-old fractured a distal fibula a day earlier. He was scheduled to have surgery Friday.

Williams has one goal in 24 games in his first season, scoring against Bolton in the FA Cup in January. He made 20 Premier League appearances, including 11 starts.

Williams made his U.S. national debut in 2011 and has two goals in 23 appearances, scoring in exhibitions against the Netherlands and Brazil.
